JOB TITLE: Pre-Sales Engineer
LOCATION: Austin, United Kingdom
PACKAGE: $225,000.00 OTE, with an 8020 split
Company Information:
My client is the leader in Open Converged Infrastructure for private clouds. My client converges compute, data encryption, primary and secondary storage, business continuity and archive to cloud for vastly simpler administration, performance and protection of private cloud infrastructure.
Key Experience Required:
- 10 years of experience selling enterprise solutions into large and complex organisations using target account selling, solution selling and/or consultative sales techniques
- BS/BA in CS/EE highly desired
- Strong VMWare skills (VCP highly desired) with background in server architecture
- Previous start-up experience preferred
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of storage protocols such as iSCSI, NFS, CiFS
- Must have a desire to learn new technologies and enjoy doing “hands-on”
- Must possess various personal traits like excellent inter-personal skills, high energy, be self-motivated, trustworthy, friendly and dependable with excellent follow through skills
- Should have experience with various operating systems including LINUX & Windows
- Detailed knowledge of primary storage, data protection, disaster recovery, & familiarity with technology from Zerto, VEEAM
- Competitive awareness desired on vSAN, Tintri, Tegile, Nutanix and others
Role Information:
- Travel 25-75%
- Pre-sales technical & strategy support to my client’s Account Executives (AE), partners and customers covering all of the company’s technologies
- Work with other account teams to formulate account strategies
- Stay abreast of current industry technology, tends and competition
- Regularly present in front of customers in round table discussions as well as large (seminar) audiences
- Work in tandem with the AE in fulfilling sales goals and responding to RFI/RFPs
- Work with AE to create brand awareness within the territory and/or region
- Establish relationships with partners, prospects and existing clients in support of sales team’s objectives and engage and leverage corporate resources, abilities, budgets and personnel as appropriate
- Periodically perform system deployment, installation, and integration of my client’s storage solutions in customer environments
- Coordination with regional SE/SR teams focusing on enterprise accounts and other large projects
- Effectively apply technical knowledge to pre-sales situations and crafting solutions for clients whilst assessing their storage needs in relation to strategy, solution, and cost
- Execute Proof of Concept engagements with customers
- Provide coaching, service, guidance, and leadership to colleagues
- Provide my clients partners technical training, installation assistance and general competitive positioning support
- Participate in continuous SE training and refinement
- Technical presentations to a wide array of audiences with both technical and non-technical backgrounds
- Day-to-day duties will range from providing frequent on-site customer facing engagement with significant input to technical pre-sales activities, to assistance in RFP responses, through to high-level and detailed design phases and into leading actual implementation on large projects. A successful candidate will be expected to have a practical working knowledge of Storage, NFS, iSCSI, FibreChannel, and other storage technologies and their application to real-world business problems in large scale customer environments. This must be complemented with solid understanding of Server, Network and Hypervisor technologies present today in the marketplace.
- You should have broad and deep experience-based knowledge of storage technologies and architectures (ideally multi-vendor), gained through genuine involvement in the scoping, design and implementation of multiple storage solutions on large scale, complex, multi-technology projects for enterprise customers. They should be able to explain the complexities and implications of Storage Solutions including Server Consolidation & Virtualisation, VDI, Test and Development, and Data Management.
- You should be able to articulate the business benefits of the customer and be able to prioritise these benefits amidst other decisions and options facing my client’s customers – i.e. a business-aware engineer who orates and demonstrate solution value to the business of the client. The successful candidates will be able to express themselves well in writing, as well as demonstrating proficiency in both formal and informal presentations along with excellent consultative, workshop and facilitation skills.
- The candidate should have a depth of specialisation in relevant technologies such as my client’s DVX server powered storage, as well as NAND Flash cache technologies, depth of knowledge in x86 server architectures, networking basics, VMWare architecture and implementation & Cisco US. Candidates should have experience and hold relevant certifications these products as well.
- Candidates should demonstrate a proven willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues in their everyday work. Experience of project management tools and methodologies is desirable, and candidates should demonstrate an ability to be self-driven and organised.
